70+ Events. 10 Countries. 1 Global Photography Movement.
The Create Together Fund began with a simple idea: to empower photographers by fostering communities where they can connect, learn, and grow together
For too long, this craft has been a solitary pursuit. We spend late nights editing alone, chase fleeting conversations at shoots, and scroll through online groups that never quite fill the gap. What was missing was real space where photographers could gather in person, share knowledge, and create together.
That’s where Aftershoot stepped in. With a $1M grant program, the Create Together Fund was launched to empower photographers everywhere to host workshops, photowalks, and meetups that spark connection. The idea was simple — if you give photographers resources, they’ll give back to each other.
And they did.
From the UK to the US, from Moldova to Brazil, the Fund has grown into something much bigger than individual events. 66 gatherings in 10 countries brought more than 1900 photographers together in Cohort 2 alone. But the true impact can’t be measured in numbers, it’s in the stories of those who turned vision into community.
100+ events around the globe
What started as 27 community-led events in Cohort 1 more than doubled in Cohort 2: 70+ events across 10 countries.
- Workshops where photographers swapped technical skills and business insights
- Photowalks that mixed practice with conversation
- Meetups that turned online connections into real friendships
This was proof that photographers everywhere are hungry for real connection, and when given the chance, they’ll show up for each other.

The people who brought communities to life
Behind every number is a story of someone who believed in community enough to bring people together.
In the UK, Abigail Lewis-Savage saw an overlooked niche: maternity photographers.

In the US, Robert Jerrod Brown wanted to blend education and creativity.

For Georgia-Beth McGilley, the Golden Ginkgo Wedding Workshop became more than a styled shoot.

In Moldova, Vadim Jantic did something that had never been done before.

And in Brazil, Misha Voguel turned personal struggle into renewed purpose.

Each story carried the same theme: when photographers gather with intention, something bigger than images is created.

The impact that lasts forever
By the end of Cohort 2, the Create Together Fund had reached thousands of photographers worldwide.
But the true measure of impact wasn’t the number of photographers, it was what they took back with them:
- Knowledge shared that improved workflows and sparked new ideas
- Partnerships that continued long after the events ended
Communities that left photographers feeling less isolated and more inspired

Just as Aftershoot gives photographers time back in their workflow, the Create Together Fund gives them something equally valuable: a community to grow with.
This is why we’re already building toward Cohort 3.
Looking ahead: Cohort 3 and beyond
The momentum to build lasting communities is undeniable. Cohort 3 is on the horizon, and it promises to be the most ambitious yet — with more photographers, more countries, and more opportunities to create together.
With Aftershoot and the Create Together Fund, it’s your turn to create together.
