Introducing Aftershoot’s Photography Grant Program

Photography often begins as a solo journey. You pick up the camera and start clicking – that’s how most photographers get started. There are moments of inspiration and realization that they all experience, but much of a photographer’s journey is about them keeping at it and not giving up.

But what is it that keeps them going? What takes a photographer from someone who stumbled upon an old family camera in the attic one random Tuesday afternoon to someone so passionate about photography that they can’t imagine doing anything else in their lives?

It’s the power of community.

The power of communities.

A community provides the support that takes a solitary pursuit towards a lifelong passion. It's the friends and family who love your work unconditionally, the fellow photographers who share their learnings, the mentors who guide you, and the students who look up to you and inspire you at the same time.

This infectious energy of a community is what takes photographers to new heights and sustains their passion. Today, we’re thrilled to announce our new initiative, a photography grant designed to further fuel photography communities across the world.

Introducing our Photography Grant, the Aftershoot Create Together Fund

What is it?

Aftershoot Create Together Fund, a photography grant program to empower photographers everywhere.

The Aftershoot Create Together Fund is our way of giving back to the photography community. This photography grant program is designed to support photographers who are passionate about building and nurturing local photography communities. Whether it's through meetups, photowalks, workshops, or any other kind of offline event, we want to empower photographers to connect, learn, and grow together.

Why do this?

Empowering photographers everywhere.

Our mission is simple: to help create an environment where photographers can thrive. We believe that photographers grow the most when they support each other, share knowledge, and inspire one another. By funding these events, we aim to cultivate communities that celebrate the art of photography and help photographers grow.

How do we do this?

Over the next year, we are committed to distributing $1 million in funding to support 750 photography events and workshops. This financial support will be provided in different cohorts, ensuring a wide range of events and workshops can benefit from the fund.

Our dream is to see photographers coming together to share their skills, learn new techniques, and explore creative collaborations. This grant is not just about monetary support; it's about building a legacy of collaboration within the photography community.

Who is this fund for?

The Aftershoot Create Together Fund is made especially for active photographers who are passionate about building and nurturing photography communities.

Photographers, community leaders, photography educators.

Ideal candidates include wedding, event, portrait, and other professional photographers, emerging community leaders, and the next generation of photography educators.
